Understanding Your Rights – and When to Seek the Truth

Raising a child across borders is never simple. And when emotions, culture, and the Thai legal system come into play, custody issues can become even more complex—especially for foreign fathers.

At Orchid Eyes, we are familiar with child custody cases. Whether you're in the middle of a custody dispute or simply want to ensure your child is safe and well cared for in Thailand, we’re here to help.

The Basics of Child Custody in Thailand

In Thai law, the biological mother is automatically granted full custody rights if the parents are not married. The father has no legal rights unless:

  • He was married to the mother at the time of birth or

  • He has legally acknowledged the child and registered parental rights (called “Khamsang Amphur”) in a Thai district office or court

Without that, he may have no decision-making authority, even if he financially supports the child.

What Can Go Wrong

Many foreign fathers believe a private agreement is enough—but later discover:

  • They can’t visit or contact their child

  • The mother has moved without notice

  • The child is being raised by someone else

  • The financial support is not used as promised

  • Another man is being introduced as the “father”

These cases are not uncommon—and they’re deeply distressing for those who genuinely care.

How Orchid Eyes Can Help

While we do not offer legal representation, we provide on-the-ground intelligence and documentation that can support:

  • Legal custody filings or court proceedings

  • Verifying living conditions and care quality

  • Locating the child or mother if contact is lost

  • Identifying third parties involved (partners, guardians, etc.)

  • Confirming schooling and healthcare situations

Our team operates discreetly, lawfully, and always with the child’s wellbeing in mind. We gather factual, photo-documented reports that can be presented to legal counsel or used for personal reassurance.

You Don’t Have to Stay in the Dark

If you feel sidelined, deceived, or left out of your child’s life in Thailand, you’re not alone—and you have options. Whether you’re planning legal action or simply want to know the truth, knowledge is the first step.

Orchid Eyes – for truth, trust, and transparency. We protect more than secrets. We protect peace of mind.
