Understanding Your Rights – and When to Seek the Truth
Raising a child across borders is never simple. And when emotions, culture, and the Thai legal system come into play, custody issues can become even more complex—especially for foreign fathers.

At Orchid Eyes, we are familiar with child custody cases. Whether you're in the middle of a custody dispute or simply want to ensure your child is safe and well cared for in Thailand, we’re here to help.
The Basics of Child Custody in Thailand
In Thai law, the biological mother is automatically granted full custody rights if the parents are not married. The father has no legal rights unless:
He was married to the mother at the time of birth or
He has legally acknowledged the child and registered parental rights (called “Khamsang Amphur”) in a Thai district office or court
Without that, he may have no decision-making authority, even if he financially supports the child.
What Can Go Wrong
Many foreign fathers believe a private agreement is enough—but later discover:
They can’t visit or contact their child
The mother has moved without notice
The child is being raised by someone else
The financial support is not used as promised
Another man is being introduced as the “father”
These cases are not uncommon—and they’re deeply distressing for those who genuinely care.

Our team operates discreetly, lawfully, and always with the child’s wellbeing in mind. We gather factual, photo-documented reports that can be presented to legal counsel or used for personal reassurance.
